YOUNG IFA NETWORK (YIN)

To attract more members in the early stages of their careers, IFA in 2005 adopted the Young IFA Network (YIN) initiative. The Executive Committee established the YIN Committee consisting of young IFA members to develop, propose and implement programmes, both at the Branch level and worldwide, to make IFA more attractive to young members. The IFA Branches were invited to take corresponding action at the Branch level. Since the official launch of YIN at the 2006 Amsterdam Congress, many IFA Branches have implemented YIN activities. Also at this IFA Congress, there are special YIN events which are listed below. While these events are intended to attract members of the age of 40 and under, all IFA Members are welcome to attend.

Participants interested in the YIN activities are asked to fill in the relevant part of the registration form.

Young IFA Network (YIN) Meet & Greet Reception

On Sunday, 29 August 2010 from 17.45 to 18.45, a YIN networking reception will be held at the Hotel Rome Cavalieri. This reception is especially intended for persons attending their first IFA Congress. Its purpose is to give young IFA members a chance to meet informally at the beginning of the Congress, enabling them to start building their own personal networks and to benefit more from attending the Congress.

YIN Seminar

On Tuesday, 31 August 2010 from 15:30 to 17:00, a special Seminar will be held at the Salone dei Cavalieri. The YIN Seminar in the Rome Congress, as in previous Congress, will be divided in two segments. In the first segment, after the introduction by Mr. Kuntal Dave from India, the Mitchell B. Carroll Prize Winner, Andreas Bullen from Norway, will present his winning thesis "Arm’s length transaction structures: Recognising and restructuring controlled transactions in transfer pricing”. He will also answer to any queries from the participants on his thesis.

The second segment will consist of a Moot Court Session, introduced by Raffaele Russo from OECD. Porus Kaka from India will act as a Tax Judge to preside over a hypothetical tax case to be argued by José Almeida Fernandes from Portugal and Alessandro Caridi from Italy, one side representing the Tax Authorities and the other side representing the Taxpayer. At the end of the arguments, the acting Tax Judge will render his judgment on the tax case. The fact pattern for the case, the legal issues involved, and the summary of the arguments of the parties will be made available to the delegates before the commencement of the Seminar.

YIN Party and Activity

Beautiful music and good food and wine will be the perfect framework of a fantastic party on the beach. Delegates will meet and network in a comfortable and elegant seaside resort located in the middle of the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) wildlife reserve, just 20 minutes by car from Rome.
